I have learned that I feel the pain of others. I also feel the angry, violent thoughts of people around me. It causes me to be quick to listen and slow to speak because I must ask the question, “Is this my emotion or someone else’s?” It took me many years to understand this part of me but I am thankful I did the work to discover it. What this empathetic tendency teaches me is that we are all connected. For me, there is no separation in humanity. When one person suffers, we all suffer. I understand many do not feel that way…And that is their choice. But, I am accountable for my journey…
Woman are marching throughout America today…
Discouraged and angry men and woman are protesting the change in government…
Immigrants are fearful of what is to come for them and their children…
People of faith are questioning what is God up to…
Hate, fear, ignorance and injustice are swirling in the atmosphere like a storm cloud ready to erupt…
I am watching, praying and feeling it all…
The fragile crust of tolerance and acceptance that has been melting away for years is about to break and I shutter at the images that bombard my mind. If individuals continue to dehumanize another based on personal opinion or political agenda, fear will prevail.
Disagree with me, but honor my humanity. End the judgmental generalizations that breed contempt, racism and division. It serves only to advance the agenda of separation from God.
Our minds are being assaulted and deluded by the opinions and beliefs of others. What do YOU believe? Why do you believe what you believe? Are these your thoughts or has someone made an unknown deposit into your psyche? Being swept away by the waves of emotions flowing through our world is easy. Digging your feet into immovable rock and remaining anchored in His truth is not.
…Just pause…
…Take a deep breath…And ask…
‘Are the words building up in my mind in alignment with my purpose and assignment on this Earth? Who’s path am I on? ‘
Please…Slow down your thoughts. Realize that you are not the center of this world and there are billions of people who live here with you. Choose not to be lazy with your words. Choose wisely and be intentional…Because it matters!
